Marian De Paula is Director of the Houston Energy Transition Initiative (HETI) at the Greater Houston Partnership, where she leads strategic initiatives focused on technology commercialization and ecosystem partnerships that accelerate the energy transition. With more than 15 years of experience in the petrochemical sector, Marian has built a career at the intersection of commercial strategy, sustainability and government affairs.
Throughout her career, she has translated complex regulatory and market dynamics into business growth opportunities, helping organizations navigate emerging sustainability challenges while advancing innovation and infrastructure development. Prior to joining HETI, Marian led circular economy and sustainability initiatives at Camden Property Trust and Braskem America, where she championed green plastics technologies, secured strategic commercial agreements, and directed federal and state government affairs efforts. Her work supported major industrial projects, including petrochemical infrastructure expansion and cracker development initiatives.
Marian holds a Master’s degree in Government Relations from Harvard University Extension School, where her research focused on hydropower development and bilateral conflict. She is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish and is passionate about building cross-sector collaborations that drive sustainable economic growth and energy innovation.
