Daikin Implements Solar Power at Houston-Area Headquarters

INDUSTRY NEWS

Daikin Industries, a global leader in air conditioning solutions, is advancing energy innovation in the Houston region with the completion of a nearly 1-megawatt solar-powered plant at its North American headquarters near Waller, Texas.

The new solar installation at the Daikin Texas Technology Park (DTTP) is estimated to eliminate 85 metric tons of carbon emissions annually through its bifacial solar panels, which capture sunlight from both sides to optimize efficiency. These panels help power DTTP’s climate control system, which circulates about 125,000 gallons of chilled water annually and 75,000 gallons of hot water in the winter.

“Daikin’s unwavering commitment to innovation drives us to continually perfect the air we share. With the launch of this solar project, we’re one step closer to being a NetZero CO2 emission factory by 2030,” said Nathan Walker, Senior Vice President of Environmental Business Development at Daikin Comfort Technologies North America, Inc., “This installation is a significant step in reducing our carbon footprint and underscores our commitment to energy efficiency, sustainability and environmental stewardship.”

These efforts are just one component of Daikin’s sustainability approach, which emphasizes reducing environmental impact through clean energy, operational efficiency, and innovative technologies. Daikin remains steadfast in its goal of lowering greenhouse gas emissions and advancing environmental responsibility by 2030.

As Houston continues to evolve as a leader in the global energy transition, efforts like Daikin’s solar installation align with the region’s larger push toward a low-carbon future.
