Greentown Labs, Halliburton Labs and the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship are joining forces to launch the inaugural Houston Energy and Climate Startup Week 2024.

The Sept. 9-13 event will bring together leading energy and climate venture capital investors, industry leaders and startups from around the world where they will showcase the most innovative and promising companies and technologies that are transforming the energy industry while driving a sustainable, low-carbon energy future.

Their united efforts will launch the inaugural Energy and Climate Startup Week in Houston in collaboration with the Houston Energy Transition Initiative (HETI), an initiative of the Greater Houston Partnership. Additional organizations like Activate, Digital Wildcatters, Renewable Energy Alliance Houston and TEX-E are eager to bring events and content to the week and others are encouraged to do the same.

Throughout the week, startups solving energy and climate challenges will have the opportunity to present their technologies and solutions to top venture capital, private equity and corporate strategic investors. Speakers, panels, pitches and discussions will take place at events across Houston with several hosted at the Ion, the heart of Houston’s innovation corridor in Midtown.

“These organizations will execute events that will serve as a launching pad for an Energy and Climate Startup Week in Houston, showcasing the city as a national hub for the energy future,” said Brad Burke, executive director of the Rice Alliance. “We welcome the community to bring other energy and climate events to the week, which we’ll cross-promote as the dates approach.”

“From our engineering talent and ingenuity to world-leading universities, brilliant entrepreneurs and corporations to capital and physical assets, there’s no better place in the world to lead the clean energy transition than Houston, and that’s exactly what the Energy and Climate Startup Week will show the world,” said Timmeko Moore Love, general manager and senior vice president of Greentown Labs. “Greentown Houston opened in 2021 to serve as a catalyst, convener and collaborator in the energy transition, and we’re so proud to play a role in the first-ever week-long celebration of everything our ecosystem is doing to advance climate action.”

“We look forward to the opportunity to highlight talented founders and connect them with investors, industry practitioners and university resources to help accelerate energy innovation,” said Dale Winger, managing director of Halliburton Labs. “The collaboration to launch Energy and Climate Startup Week reflects how Houston works together to scale solutions. We invite energy and climate tech players from around the world to join a week of insights and new connections to advance the future of energy.”

“Houston Energy and Climate Startup Week promises to be a dynamic week of events showcasing the region’s pioneering spirit and solutions-oriented commitment to meeting the dual challenge of more energy with less emissions,” said Jane Stricker, executive director of the Houston Energy Transition Initiative and senior vice president of the Greater Houston Partnership. “As the energy capital and one of the most diverse cities in the world, Houston stands as a center point for these solutions. The region is welcoming, diverse and has the know-how to play a critical role in building an energy abundant, low-carbon future. We welcome all who want to be part of the solution to join for this exciting, inaugural week of events.”
